Mesmerising Mechanisms is a free, hands-on exhibition, featuring a collection of wooden machines designed and built by Ian Graham, proprietor of Colinton Clocks. The exhibition naturally features clocks, some of which are described in this website. Clocks of course are useful things, but the other machines here do all sorts of entirely pointless things, but provide lots of interest and amusement in the process.
Drawing Machines
Visitors can create their own artworks, in the form of complicated spirographic patterns drawn on paper. No artistic talent is required - you just turn the handle!
Ball Runners
Wooden balls getting moved about by all sorts of complicated mechanisms. It shouldn't be interesting... but it is!
Automata
These Automata depict the leisure activities of the humble hedgehog. Music, sport, art... Who knew?
