Welcome to Colinton Clocks. Here you can see our range of quirky clocks and distinctive homewares. These products are hand-made using native hardwoods, such as oak yew and elm. These beautiful natural materials are uniquely suited to our designs which in many cases are inspired by the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau styles.
Here also you’ll find information about our occasional special exhibition “Mesmerising Mechanisms”. It’s a free hands-on exhibition featuring a collection of wooden machines which do all sorts of entirely pointless things, but provide lots of interest and amusement in the process.
Part of Colinton's history is the railway line that served the village until the 1960's. The line ran from central Edinburgh to the outlying village of Balerno. Colinton station was a stop on that route. The line was single track and twisty, with some demanding inclines. Consequently, the steam locomotive that hauled the train was small but sturdy, and it earned the affectionate nickname of the Balerno Pug. The Pug is commemorated in our unique scale model and informative A3 size poster.
